Amber Fortowsky, BSW/RSW, MA/CCC (she/hers)

Clinical Counsellor | Social Worker

WORKS WITH AGES 18+

Hello! My name is Amber and I’m a registered social worker. I also hold a master’s degree in counselling. I offer individual and couples counselling for ages 18+.

My primary goal is to create an emotionally safe and judgement-free environment where you can take a deep breath, relax and just be yourself! I practice from a client-centered perspective, and my focus is on working in partnership with clients. I also practice from a trauma-informed lens, assuming that we have all experienced trauma at some point in our lives.

I have experience helping clients through anxiety, anger, stress, grief and loss, trauma, and unhealthy relationships with self and others. Some of the counselling theories I’m drawn to are Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing and Attachment Theory. I’m also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is an evidence-based eye movement therapy for people with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and so on.

I firmly believe that success in counselling is connected to having a compassionate, accepting, and empathetic counsellor that you feel safe and comfortable with. I believe this is one of my personal strengths as a counsellor, and something I continually strive to provide for my clients.
